This special initiative showcases the remarkable art of Jean Amil Augustin, a Haitian painter whose works explore the complex interplay of joy, reality, and nostalgia, brought to life through vibrant acrylics.
These pieces, created during his time in Basel from 2002 to 2017, reflect both his personal experiences in Europe and vivid memories of his homeland.

This event is not only an opportunity to experience powerful art but also to honor Carmel Fröhlicher-Stines for her tireless commitment to amplifying Black voices and promoting cultural dialogue. As a co-founder of Women of Black Heritage in Zurich and CRAN (Carrefour contre le Racisme Anti-Noir), Carmel has spent decades creating platforms for visibility and change within Switzerland.
