ABOUT HEALING HORIZONS
Healing Horizons is AfroSwissters’ periodic therapeutic retreat . This upcoming retreat will be focused on providing a dedicated space for persons who identify as Black women* to reconnect with themselves, with their emotions, and with each other.
In a world where anger expressed by Black women* is often misunderstood or punished, this retreat reframes anger as a powerful emotional resource. Guided by therapist Patricia Oguey, we explore anger as clarity, as direction, as creative force, and as a form of protection that can be softened safely.
Set in a peaceful private mountain house on the Stoos, Healing Horizons offers two days of guided sessions, shared meals, quiet reflection, and community connection.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Patricia Oguey is a body-mind psychotherapist, physiotherapist, trauma-informed practitioner, and a deeply intuitive guide for anyone seeking emotional truth, balance, and transformation. Her work sits at the intersection of physical awareness, emotional intelligence, and human connection — a place where the body and the psyche learn to speak to one another again.
For more than twenty years, Patricia has supported individuals through emotional blocks, physical tension, trauma, identity challenges, burnout, and moments of transition. Her practice is grounded in gentleness, curiosity, depth, and an unwavering belief in the human capacity to heal.
WHY ANGER?
Anger is one of the most suppressed emotions among Afro-descendant women — not because it isn’t felt, but because it often wasn’t safe to express.
Suppressing anger over time can lead to:
emotional exhaustion
chronic tension or headaches
burnout
insomnia or restlessness
difficulty setting boundaries
disconnection from self
unexplained fatigue
loss of creativity and pleasure
When anger cannot move, life energy cannot move.
Healing Horizons helps participants understand anger as:
information
energy
boundary
internal wisdom
creative power
This retreat invites us to explore anger not alone, but collectively — in community, in safety, and in truth.
THERAPEUTIC FRAMEWORK
The programme is based on a three-part therapeutic arc developed and facilitated by Therapist Patricia Oguey:
Part I — Repressed Anger & Its Impact
Understanding how suppressed anger affects mental health, physical wellbeing, identity, and the nervous system. This session validates emotional experiences many Black women carry silently.
Part II — The Energy of Anger
Exploring anger as clarity, courage, and creative momentum.Participants learn how anger can fuel direction, power, and flow.
Part III — Anger as Protection
Recognising how anger shields deeper emotions — sadness, fear, disappointment — and learning how softening the armour allows access to deeper truth without losing boundaries.
Together, these three modules create a structured emotional journey:awareness → transformation → integration
