Full Event Description
This two-day retreat is part of the AfroSwissters HEAL pillar and creates space to engage with one of the most difficult, yet inevitable parts of life: endings.
Endings come in many forms. Some we choose. Others are imposed on us. A relationship ends. A job ends. A home is left behind. A role, identity, or version of the self no longer fits. Sometimes there is relief. Sometimes grief. Often both at once.
This retreat invites participants to slow down and make space for these experiences with care, honesty, and depth. Over the course of the weekend, we will explore what it means to process endings, sit with loss, and begin the difficult but necessary work of letting go. The retreat offers a held environment for reflection, exchange, and embodied practice.
Facilitated by Patricia Oguey, this retreat is designed for those who want to engage more consciously with transition and create space for emotional integration, inner clarity, and a more grounded relationship to change.
Set in the calm surroundings of Stoos, the retreat offers time away from daily routines and demands. It is an invitation to pause, reflect, and move through endings in community.

About the Format
Part I on Saturday: Chosen Endings
When I leave — even when it is my decision
Ending a job. Leaving a relationship. Moving out of a home.
Even when these decisions are intentional, they often come with grief, doubt, and emotional disorientation.
This part of the retreat focuses on:
– understanding the emotional weight of chosen endings
– recognising the gap between rational decision and emotional processing
– creating space to consciously close chapters, rather than abruptly cutting them off
Because choosing to leave does not mean it is easy to let go.
Part II on Sunday: Unchosen Endings
When something ends without my consent
Being dismissed. Losing someone. Having stability taken away.
These experiences can feel abrupt, unjust, and overwhelming.
This part focuses on:
– processing loss that was not self-initiated
– navigating feelings of powerlessness, anger, or shock
– rebuilding a sense of grounding and internal stability
Because not all endings give us closure — but we can learn to create it.
Approach
The retreat moves between guided communal and individual reflection, conversation, and body-based practices.
It offers a contained space to process, rather than suppress.
This is not about rushing forward.
It is about staying long enough to understand what is ending — and what is beginning beneath it.
