REMAIN: A Midsummer Night’s Dream + Conversation (1)
4 April 2026 · Schauspielhaus Zürich
REMAIN: AfroSwissters x Schauspielhaus Zürich
Join the AfroSwissters collective for a night of performance, community, and conversation. Your ticket includes dinner at Santa Lucia, Pinar Karabulut’s Ein Sommernachtstraum, and an exclusive "after-space" talk with the director.
About the Event
We often enter cultural spaces as observers—we watch, we applaud, and we leave. AfroSwissters REMAIN is our deliberate disruption of that cycle. It is a dedicated "after-space" designed to move us from passive witnessing toward shared authority.
On April 4th, we gather to reclaim the resonance of the stage. We won’t just consume a performance; we will filter it through our lived experiences to Connect, Heal, Grow, and Thrive.
The Schedule & Locations
• 17:30 | THE GROUNDING (Communal Dinner)
We meet at Santa Lucia (Schauspielhaus), right next to the Pfauen. We start by anchoring the community over a shared meal before the show.
• 19:30 | THE WITNESSING (Theater)
We move to the Pfauen stage for Pinar Karabulut’s vibrant reimagining of "Ein Sommernachtstraum" (A Midsummer Night's Dream). Performance includes English surtitles.
• 21:45 | What REMAINs? (The Talk)
We do not rush the night. We stay for a horizontal exchange with director Pinar Karabulut. This is our "after-space"—where we move from spectators to creators of thought.
What’s Included?
Your AfroSwissters Ticket is an all-in-one pass for the evening:
• Theater Ticket: Reserved seating for the performance.
• Set Meal: A pre-selected choice of Salad, Pizza or Pasta at Santa Lucia.
• REMAIN Session: The exclusive collective talk with Pinar Karabulut.
• (Note: Drinks are excluded and must be paid for individually.)
What Remains?
Guided by our 10 Notes for the Collective, we create a sanctuary for curiosity and healthy debate. No "expert" knowledge is needed—your perspective is your authority. The performance is the spark; the REMAIN format is the fire we build together.
Who Can Join?
REMAIN is open to anyone who wants to move beyond passive observation and engage deeply with art and the AfroSwissters community.
Can I bring my spouse or kids?
Spouses & Partners:
Yes! Partners and spouses are more than welcome to join the collective at the table and in the theater. We believe that Connecting and Growing is even more powerful when shared with those closest to us.
Children & Teens:
Families are welcome! However, please keep two things in mind:
• The Performance: Ein Sommernachtstraum is a vibrant, modern production, but it is a full-length evening play (approx. 1 hour 45 minutes). It is generally best suited for teens and older children who can engage with the themes and the surtitles.
• The REMAIN Session: Our "after-space" involves a seated, focused collective talk. If your children are comfortable participating in or observing a group discussion, we would love to have them.
While AfroSwissters is a space founded by and for Black women and women of color to Connect, Heal, Grow, and Thrive, we welcome all allies and culture-seekers who are:
• Curious: Ready to look at art through an inclusive lens.
• Respectful: Committed to our 10 Notes for the Collective and holding a safe space for dialogue.
• Intentional: Willing to stay for the "after-space" and contribute to the horizontal exchange.
Whether you are a art, theater lover, an artist, or someone simply looking for a meaningful Saturday night out in Zurich—there is a seat for you at our table.
OBSERVE. REFLECT. CREATE.
Connect. Heal. Grow. Thrive.
