REMAIN at VOLTA Art Fair Basel
Enjoy an Intimate VIP Art Experience for AfroSwissters on Saturday, 20 June 2026 at VOLTA Art Fair in Basel
We meet at 14:30 at VOLTA Art Fair Hall 4.U at Messeplatz 21, steps from central Messeplatz and Art Basel.
VOLTA Art Fair, Basel
For the second time, AfroSwissters has been invited to VOLTA Art Fair during Basel Art Week, continuing an evolving dialogue around art, cultural exchange, community, and the role of Afro-diasporic perspectives within contemporary cultural spaces.
Join us for an intimate afternoon bringing together artists, creatives, professionals, collectors, founders, cultural thinkers, and curious minds for a curated cultural experience beyond the traditional art fair visit.
The experience begins at 15:00 with exclusive VIP access to VOLTA Art Fair, followed by a private guided tour and intimate meet & greet with Lee Cavaliere, Artistic Director of VOLTA. Together, we will explore selected galleries, artistic positions, and curatorial directions while engaging in deeper conversations around contemporary culture, storytelling, identity, aesthetics, memory, visibility, and the shifting global landscape shaping the art world today.
Following the tour, guests are invited into REMAIN, AfroSwissters’ reflective conversation format exploring what stays with us after cultural encounters: the emotions, questions, tensions, beauty, and ideas that continue to linger long after leaving the room.
What kinds of experiences remain with us long after we leave the art fair?
How do art fairs shape not only markets, but also community, visibility, and cultural memory?
What forms of Afro-diasporic storytelling, presence, and cultural capital still remain underrepresented within the global art world?
And how can intentional cultural spaces create deeper connection beyond networking, transactions, and visibility alone?
This gathering is intentionally intimate and designed to foster meaningful conversation, thoughtful encounters, and new connections beyond the exhibition space.
AfroSwissters has received a limited number of VIP tickets from VOLTA Art Fair which we are happy to share with our community. To support processing, coordination, and the operational work behind creating and sustaining these cultural experiences, we charge a symbolic participation and administration fee of CHF 5 per guest.
Curated & hosted by Tallulah Patricia Bär, VOLTA Art Fair Advisory Board Member and Safiatou Barry, Core Team Leads AfroSwissters
