Programmes · Heal

Healing is not an afterthought.

For AfroSwissters, healing means creating spaces where people can pause, breathe, reflect and return to themselves — without having to explain everything first.

Our premise

What we carry is not only social. It is physical. It lives in the nervous system, in the body, in exhaustion, in silence, in over-functioning, in constant adaptation, in the pressure to stay strong, and in the inherited weight many of us carry.

Heal is where we make room for rest, reflection and recovery.

Format 01

Healing Horizons.

Healing Horizons is AfroSwissters’ retreat format. The retreats take place in Zürich, Schwyz, Basel and other Swiss locations. Each gathering is designed as an intentional pause — away from the speed of everyday life and into a space of grounding, conversation, care and reconnection.

Healing Horizons may include guided reflection, therapeutic input, body-based practices, nature, journaling, group conversation, creative exercises, food, stillness and shared presence. The aim is not to "fix" anyone. The aim is to create conditions where participants can feel held, seen and less alone.

Format 02

Healing Body, Mind & Soul.

Healing Body, Mind & Soul is AfroSwissters' workshop format for embodied wellbeing, reflection and collective care. These workshops explore how stress, migration, identity, grief, expectation and survival strategies can affect the body, mind and spirit. They create space to listen to what we carry and to practise gentler ways of being with ourselves and each other.

The workshops are developed in collaboration with Patricia Kafwamba Oguey, a therapist whose work brings depth, care and professional grounding to the Heal pillar.

Why this matters

A rhythm where rest is not laziness. Where softness is not weakness. Where the body is allowed to speak. Where grief, anger, joy, memory and fatigue do not need to be hidden. Where healing can be personal, collective and cultural at the same time.

Heal offers another rhythm

Many of us are used to moving through spaces where we have to be resilient, articulate, available, composed and adaptable. Heal offers another rhythm.

What to expect

Retreats in Zürich, Schwyz, Basel and other Swiss locations · therapeutic reflection and guided group conversation · body-based and nervous-system-aware practices · journaling, silence, nature and creative prompts · workshops on stress, boundaries, identity and recovery · small, intimate groups · selected public or partner formats where appropriate.

Who it is for

Heal is open to everyone who shares our values. Each event page says who the format is for, the language and how to take part. Retreats and circles are kept small, so places are limited.

Care & responsibility · Confidentiality

AfroSwissters healing formats are created with care, but they are not a replacement for individual therapy, medical care or crisis support. We work with qualified practitioners and trusted contributors where appropriate. We also ask participants to enter these spaces with respect, confidentiality and awareness of their own boundaries.

What is shared in our retreats, circles and intimate gathering spaces stays there. Any sharing beyond the space requires clear consent and is agreed on case by case.

Upcoming Healing Horizons retreats and Healing Body, Mind & Soul workshops are announced through our events page and member updates.
