REMAIN by AfroSwissters comes to the Zurich Film Festival with a public conversation inspired by CLARISSA, Arie and Chuko Esiri's contemporary reimagining of Mrs Dalloway, set in Lagos.
Through the film's themes of love, friendship, desire, class, sexuality and regret, our panel asks what it really means to choose your own life when family, culture, gender, status and history are all shaping the options in front of you.
Set against contemporary Lagos and viewed through African and diaspora perspectives, the discussion moves beyond the film into bigger questions of ambition, belonging, reinvention and freedom.
Who gets to change their mind? Who gets to start again? And how much of the life we live is actually ours to choose?
