About · Our Pillars

Four pillars hold up everything.

Each is a standing commitment, not a one-off — and each has real programmes behind it.

The four

Connect · Heal · Grow · Thrive.

I

Connect

Where the network meets. Connect is where we meet, online and sometimes in person: cultural experiences like HE.ART.BEAT and REMAIN, the annual Vineyard Brunch, and gatherings that bring people together without an agenda beyond being together.

II

Heal

Space to rest, reflect and recover. Our starting point is simple: what we carry is not only social, it is physical. Through Healing Horizons retreats (in Zürich, Schwyz and Basel) and Healing Body, Mind & Soul workshops — in collaboration with psycho-corporeal therapist Patricia Kafwamba Oguey — Heal makes room for the parts of wellbeing that usually get skipped.

III

Grow

Personal, professional, and collective capacity-building. Grow is where AfroSwissters turns insight, lived experience, questions, and ambition into practical knowledge, confidence, skills, and next steps.

This pillar includes workshops, book circles, learning formats, peer exchange, career conversations, personal development, leadership tools, self-advocacy, visibility, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and support in navigating Swiss systems and professional spaces. It is about learning that helps people move — not just feel inspired.

Featured format: Start With Yourself: Turning Insight Into Action — a learning and reflection format that helps participants translate ideas, books, conversations, and personal insights into concrete choices, habits, and action.

IV

Thrive

From connection, healing, and growth, we create the conditions to thrive. Thrive is the pillar where AfroSwissters explores what becomes possible when people are connected, supported, and equipped with knowledge.

It may include practical formats around opportunity, visibility, careers, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, mentorship, leadership, partnerships, and access to professional, cultural, and institutional spaces.

Thrive does not mean constant success or pressure to achieve. It means having more clarity, support, relationships, and resources to participate more fully and make choices that feel realistic, sustainable, and aligned.

Concrete examples could include a curated Opportunity Board with relevant jobs, grants, fellowships, open calls, speaking invitations, and partner opportunities; or Thrive Sessions on topics such as negotiation, funding, entrepreneurship, board readiness, or navigating institutional spaces.
