HEAL

Healing is an important part of the AfroSwissters journey. For many in our community, it relates to making sense of personal, generational, and societal experiences in a way that feels respectful and manageable.

We create spaces that allow for reflection, exchange, and moments of pause. This is not about offering solutions or having all the answers, but about making room to show up as you are — individually and together.

This pillar is reflected in formats such as Healing Horizons, where we host facilitated workshops and retreats that focus on reflection, wellbeing, and shared experience in a structured and supportive setting.

Healing, in the AfroSwissters sense, supports balance, clarity, and the possibility for sustainable growth, and guides how we design and hold our formats.

Healing in Practice

AfroSwissters has established a strong and recurring collaboration with Patricia Oguey (also known as Patricia Kafwamba Oguey), a psychocorporeal therapist specializing in racial trauma.

A Shared Philosophy

AfroSwissters × Patricia Oguey

This collaboration is grounded in a simple but often overlooked truth:

Racism is not only a social experience—it is also a physical one.

By bringing together AfroSwissters’ community-building approach with Patricia Oguey’s therapeutic practice, we create a more holistic pathway to healing. One that honours both the emotional and embodied dimensions of lived experience. It is about reconnecting. It is about releasing. And ultimately, it is about creating space to grow and thrive on our own terms.

Healing Horizons Retreats

At the heart of this collaboration is Healing Horizons, a series of intimate, single or multi-day retreats designed specifically for Afro-descendant women.

Participants are invited into a carefully held space to explore emotional clarity, communal healing, and the transformative power of anger, not as something to suppress, but as a signal, a boundary, and a source of energy.

Recent sessions, including our January 2026 gathering on the Stoos (Schwyz), have focused on creating a collective environment where women can reconnect with themselves and each other—honestly, safely, and without performance.

Workshops: Healing Body, Mind & Soul

In addition to retreats, Patricia facilitates one-day workshops under the AfroSwissters Healing Horizons umbrella.

These sessions are designed to be accessible entry points into deeper self-work. Through a psycho-corporeal approach, connecting mind and body, participants are guided to better understand their emotional responses, build resilience, and reconnect with their sense of self beyond external expectations.
