AfroSwissters is a Swiss registered non-profit association dedicated to fostering connection, mutual support, and both personal and collective development. Rooted in empowering Afro-descendant women, we also welcome allies who engage with respect, intention, and shared responsibility. We create carefully held spaces for dialogue, cultural exchange, and community building. Through curated programmes and gatherings, we strengthen belonging, visibility, and empowerment across generations and backgrounds. Our work is guided by care, accountability, and a commitment to long-term impact.

Our vision

What we're working towards

A Switzerland where Afro-descendant perspectives are recognised as part of the country's social and cultural fabric, and where connections built locally can extend into broader, international exchange.

We believe representation is not a request but a right. AfroSwissters exists to make that visible through community, through programmes, and through the stories we tell about ourselves.

"More than a community — a movement dedicated to empowering Afro-descendant women and their allies in Switzerland."

— AfroSwissters founding statement

Core Values

What guides us

Facetune_05-04-2026-00-39-30.HEIC

Intentional connection

We bring people together across backgrounds and experiences in a deliberate, respectful way — with clear expectations around respect and responsibility.

Care & accountability

We hold space with care and expect accountability — from ourselves and from those who enter our community. Safety and confidentiality are non-negotiable.

Long-term thinking

We focus on relationships and formats that develop over time. Not one-off moments but sustained investment in people and community.

Diversity of perspectives

We encourage learning and reflection through diverse experiences across generations, geographies, and sectors within the African diaspora.

Collective development

Growth is not only individual. It is shared. We design for collective elevation, where each woman's progress strengthens the whole community.

Representation & visibility

We champion Afro-descendant perspectives as a natural and essential part of Switzerland's social and cultural fabric. Not an exception to it.
